GENERAL FRAMING INFORMATION
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR NEW JOB
If you have any questions regarding your job or your artworks then please contact us straight away. Any changes to a frame once we’ve started work may incur extra costs
VISITING THE STUDIO
Visiting the studio is by appointment only. You can book appointments on our website.
LEAD TIMES
Our standard lead-time is 2-3 weeks but can vary dependent on the complexity of each frame. If you have a strict deadline (exhibition, installation, birthday, special event, etc.) then please inform us so we can mark your frame as priority. We will presume any frame not marked as priority will be flexible and therefore the lead-time could be subject to change. We can offer rushed lead-times (less than a week) with certain jobs, on which a 30% surcharge will be added.
COMMUNICATION
All communication is via email. Job confirmations and invoices will be sent, followed by automated progress updates as we work through the job.
PAYMENTS
Payments can be made via credit/debit card in the studio or via our invoices (online payments or bank transfer). As our work is bespoke, all payments are non refundable. We do not accept cash or cheque. As standard we require a 50% deposit before we can start any work. Once a job has been completed, the final 50% must be cleared before the frames can leave the studio.
MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA
Regular photos are taken for our website, social media, and our online portfolio. If you would rather your artworks and frames not be photographed then please let us know. No personal information will ever be share with third-parties or seen in our photos.
FRAMING STANDARDS
All our frames are built to either our Conservation Standard or our Museum Standard. This relates to both how an artwork is framed as well as the materials used. We only use the highest quality materials in each frame. We look to preserve each work as is and will not automatically change, modify, or hide any defects in the artworks.
CONSERVATION & RESTORATION
Artwork conservation and restoration is available for works on paper and paintings. Initial condition reporting is also available. Please contact us for further detail.
HANDLING & MOUNTING ARTWORKS
All processes carried our are non-evasive and reversible. We would not normally offer non-reversable processes (i.e. drymounting) unless absolutely necessary or when requested by the client.
PAPER COCKLING (WAVING)
Cockling (waving) in paper is common. Paper will always be mounted as naturally as possible, meaning that in certain cases pre-existing waving in the paper might still be visible after the framing is finished.
NATURAL WOODS
Our frames are built from solid woods and therefore sometimes have natural characteristics, such as grains, colour variations, blemishes, and knots.
ENVIRONMENT
Environmental factors such as humidity, light, and temperature can affect both artworks and frames, causing such effects as paper cockling. Please bear this in mind when choosing where to hang a frame.
COURIERS & LOGISTICS
We can arrange any logistical support needed for your frames. This includes couriers for artwork/ frame collect, art handlers, installation, crating, and shipping both nationally and internationally.
